Axis Mundi Church composts the roots of our Christian heritage in North America, transforming what we have inherited into fertile soil for a new expression of church—one that is healing, liberating, and life-giving for generations to come.

We preserve and renew the sacraments of our tradition, knowing them to be the foundation through which transformation takes place and through which we recover the vision Jesus held for humanity: a world of sacred abundance where diversity is revered and the Earth is tended as a garden.

By creating pathways for economic, liturgical, and cultural change, we cultivate a way of life that honors the various ways we are sustained — physically, spiritually, and ecologically.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a model for church that can be adapted to your multi-cultural context, but that shares an ethical vision and commitments to eco-justice, multiculturalism, and liberation. We hold ourselves to including the voices of all community members we serve, including our relationships to the more-than-human world, such as the waterways, the soil, and the air we breathe.

What We Believe

• Every human being and all living creatures deserve dignity and respect. 

• Liberation and healing are the same path, they happen together. 

• The Catholic tradition carries within its cultural history a key that can help heal and liberate our world (the Eucharist), and we believe it is our role to preserve and utilize that key so that it can be used at this most critical moment. 

• We believe America's dominant culture, economy, and rituals estrange us from accessing the deeper, healing potential of the Eucharist, so we strive to communicate that in our work to make it more clear and more accessible. 

• Peace is possible. 

• When you can commit to a path of healing / liberation in loving and supportive community, your rate of success and willingness to participate drastically increases. 

How We Work

• We engage ritual, cultural, and economic life to build momentum toward a peaceful world. 

• We provide models and resources that can be replicated in your context, to reinforce a web of healthy and abundant relationships. 

• We support both aspects of healing / liberation that go hand in hand to make this possible. 

• We accompany people through change, and empower them to trust in the fruit of the unknown, the great mystery, which ultimately guides them to their next sacred step.
